May 22 Vashon Island Ride Information

30 mile ride around Vashon and Maury Island. Social pace.  Meet at Point Defiance Terminal in Tacoma at 9:30AM  to catch the 10:05 ferry. The cost of a ferry ride is $5.45 for an adult with a bicycle. Some significant hills.  Ride Leader is JD Miller jmille2788@aol.com, (253) 905-6681 (cell) and (360) 357-5945. Directions to Point Defiance Terminal
From I-5: Take exit 132 (Hwy 16). Proceed west on Hwy 16 approximately 3 miles and exit on the 6th Avenue exit (signed Vashon ferry). Turn left onto 6th Avenue at the stop light. Turn right at the next stop light onto Hwy 163 (Pearl Street). Proceed north, approximately 3.5 miles, to the stop sign at the entrance to Pt. Defiance Park. Stay in the right lane and bear to the right. Do not enter the park. Auto toll plaza one block on right. Ferry terminal located at end of street. Parking to the left of terminal.

    This was my first club ride. It was a great group of people and everyone was very welcoming to newcomers. If you have been thinking about joining a group ride, let this be your message to take the plunge.

    Woo hoo – The sun came out for the day and it was a fabulous ride and lunch at the Point Robinson lighthouse. If you have never been to this island. There are roads that go up, and those that go down. Roads in between are few and far between
