Intercity Transit’s Bicycle Commuter Contest (BCC) is a fun, engaging community event that encourages Thurston County residents of all ages and abilities to try bicycling as a means of transportation and gives rewards and recognition to those who do. The month-long event in May each year allows participants to develop new and lasting commute habits that result in healthy transportation choices.
Registration is open, so visit the Bicycle Commuter Contest website to sign up.
Also, this Friday (April 27) is the Annual Wrenchers Ball at the Olympia Transit Center (222 State Ave NE, Olympia). Registered participants in the 25th Annual Bicycle Commuter Contest may bring their bicycles to the Transit Center from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. and pick them up by 5 p.m. (one bike per participant, please). Mechanics from sponsoring bicycle shops will do free safety checks on bicycles that belong to Commuter Contest participants. To have your bike checked in, you must register for the contest in advance or in person at the event. Space is limited so first come, first served!
